Summary Draft 2

This article mentioned the success behind Dean Ezekiel's creation. Dean Ezekiel created a company called Helloface that makes transparent face masks, an alternative to medical masks. The idea came from his wife who is partially deaf and relies on lip reading. It can help with communication for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as in industries where facial recognition is necessary. The article mentioned, “Dean’s successfully trading business UPGRADE, that works with the travel industry went into complete shutdown.” during the first lockdown. He quickly pivoted and used his entrepreneurial skills to advance a new idea with the help of expert advice and support from the University of Hertfordshire's Business Incubator, which provided mentoring and peer-to-peer learning. The Incubator also helped Dean access funding opportunities, build knowledge and open new networks, which helped him launch his new venture to break into new markets. In the early stage, Dean benefited from the support of academic experts to validate his designs, suggest improvements, and protect his intellectual property. The University mentored and advised Dean, making him move quickly and capitalize on market opportunities. This made Dean and his team progress confidently throughout their journey from concept to bringing a new product to market. The product is now ready to present its innovative, inclusive, CE marked, UK/EU compliant product to the market. The company has finalised a contract with the Welsh Government, SBRI Centre of the Excellence, and NHS Wales to enhance a clear P3 half-mask respirator to eliminate communication difficulties while providing the highest level of reusable protection. Individuals can stay protected while still being able to communicate with others with reusable and recyclable materials. The University continues to advise the company on other opportunities for expansion as the company and product gain exposure, with future opportunities for collaboration.
